Arizona Spring Championships -- Session 2 roundup

Youth baseball programs from the West and beyond made Session 2 of the Arizona Spring Championships a wild ride as 143 teams over six age groups went to work, with championship brackets deciding the winners on Sunday, March 9.

 

14uD1– Flyin Hawaiian Baseball (Las Vegas, NV)

14uD2– Utah MBA Grays (South Jordan, UT)

 

Flyin Hawaiian Baseball, the top seed out of pool play, had a stressful start in the bracket, requiring a tight 2-1 victory over No. 8 Infinity Baseball (Newhall, CA). But the team found its stride, closing with a 9-1 victory in the title game.

 

13uD1– Klever Baseball (San Diego, CA)

13uD2– Long Beach 6th Tool-Fowler (Long Beach, CA)

 

Long Beach 6th Tool was 3-0 in pool play in the largest division in this session and had the look of a team in full control with 7-0 and 13-5 victories to start bracket play. But the championship game required some real savvy and grit as Long Beach eked out a 3-2 win over Scripps Baseball Club (San Diego, CA).

 

12uD1– 365 Lights Out National (Valencia, CA)

12uD2– Utah Players (Spanish Fork, UT)

 

365 Lights Out began Sunday with a snug 9-8 victory over Scripps Baseball Club (San Diego, CA) and wrapped up the championship by topping Klever Baseball (San Diego, CA) by a score of 8-6.

 

11uD1– SD Elevate (Poway, CA)

11uD2– Beach City Cyclones (Long Beach, CA)

 

SD Elevate was the No. 3 seed after pool play and kicked off Sunday with a 6-4 victory over the Utah Gunners (Lehi, UT). Balance between hitting, defense and pitching got it done for SD Elevate the rest of the way with victories of 7-0 and 12-3.

 

10uD1– ZT Prospects-Frank (Buena Park, CA)

10uD2– AZ Adrenaline (Chandler, AZ)

 

ZT Prospects-Frank scored 42 runs in three pool-play games and kept the bats in motion on Sunday, storming to the title with victories of 9-0 and 10-6.

 

9uD1 – ZT Prospects-Frank (Buena Park, CA)

9uD2 – SD Elevate (Poway, CA)

 

ZT Prospects-Frank stood tall as the top seed out of pool play and wrapped up their run Sunday with a 12-2 victory for the title.
